HOLIDAY CRAFTS FOR KIDS: COOL PLACE CARDS

Level: Easy
Materials: Reusable glass or jar; strip of burlap or ribbon or fabric; string; name card flags (free template provided below): glue stick; pen; herbs.

Holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah, are a great time to get fancy with decorating a table for family and guests. And, this week’s craft can help kids make professional-looking table settings! This craft is super easy  & quick and it doubles as name cards for your guests and party favors that they can take home. STEP ONE

Cut a piece of ribbon or fabric long enough to wrap around your reusable glass or jar and just high enough to cover it to the top.

Make sure to leave extra string hanging after your knot

STEP TWO

Wrap the piece of ribbon or fabric around your glass/jar and tie it there with your piece of string.

STEP THREE

Ask an adult to print you a set of color name flags from 

cool free printable flags by WeddingChicks.com

STEP FOUR

Cut the flags out.

STEP FIVE

Use a nice pen to write your name on a flag and fold it in half.

STEP SIX

Use a glue stick to glue the flag onto the string. See Video for help.

STEP SEVEN

Put a little water into the glass/jar and add your fresh bunch of herbs.

EXTRA TIPS

Be careful picking up your jar because the fabric can slip off. You can prevent this by glueing the fabric onto the jar or using double sided tape to keep it in place.

• For Thanksgiving we think lavender, rosemary, or Thyme make these look and smell great.

• For Hanukkah or Chirstmas, you can use poinsettia flowers, holly, or rosemary

• For spring holidays, we love using mint, or mixing mint with edible flowers

Reused Spega Yogurt Jars; herbs from Whole Foods and our garden; We used scrap burlap for this craft, but in the past we have bought colored burlap ribbon at Paper Source.  Other ribbons, gold pens & glue sticks purchased at Target. Cute name flags from WeddingChicks.com
