My mom cut out this recipe in 2007, when I was two years old, from Real Simple Magazine.  We finally tried it and discovered that this is a super yummy and very easy recipe for kids to make and it only takes about 10 minutes to prep and 10 minutes to cook! Have fun!  (See the recipe below)

SUPER EASY STICKY BUN TREATS

Rating: 5

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Yield: 10 or however many biscuits were in your tube

Ingredients/Materials

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and thinly sliced into 10 pieces

  • 1 medium banana, thinly sliced or chopped apple (optional)

  • 1/2 cup (2 ounces) walnuts or pecans, chopped, spread among muffin tin spaces

  • 1/2 to 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar per muffin/sticky bun

  • 1 7.5-ounce tube refrigerated buttermilk or regular biscuits (we used whole wheat ones)

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 375° F.

  2. Drop a piece of butter in the bottom of each of 10 compartments of a muffin tin. Arrange the banana slices or apple chunks on top. Sprinkle the pecans and brown sugar over the bananas. Top each compartment with a biscuit. Bake until golden brown, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from oven.

  3. Place a baking sheet on top of the muffin tin while the buns are still hot. Using baking mitts, carefully flip the tin over, tapping the bottom to release the buns. CAUTION: this step must be supervised by an adult and only completed with caution to AVOID BURNS. In our video, we let buns cool a little first.

  4. Transfer to a platter. Serve warm.

Great for playdate snacks or brunches.
