LEVEL: EASY WARNING: Parents or an adult must supervise edible flower choices.
Today on Wondermint Kids, my friend Asha and I made adorable edible flowers pots inspired by some we saw when we had tea at American Girl. You’re probably wondering how you can eat these flower pots…well, you can’t eat the pot, but we found some *edible flowers and added crumbled brownies and chocolate cake to create “dirt”. Herbs like mint and wheat grass can make for some really neat-looking pots, too. See the instructions and photos below.
Crumble brownies or chocolate cake into food-safe pots or jars. We used jars from Anthropologie and we’ve used recycled mason jars, too. Both make cute party favors or gifts when you add a gift tag to a friend or write their names on the pot or jar.
Insert edible* flowers (even though you won’t be eating the flowers you should use edible ones) or mint or wheat grass into the crumbled cake/brownie. You can also add gummy worms or candy insects to your dirt for an extra fun touch.
Decorate your party with your edible flower or herb pot and enjoy!
*Edible Flowers and herbs can be purchased at your local health food market if you do not have any in your garden. Make sure they are organic and have never been sprayed with chemicals. Parents & kids, please be careful to use organic flowers that have not been treated with chemicals! We like using edible flowers like pansies, gerbera daisies, lavendar and nasturtiums.
